• Diploma in Archival Science, Palaeography and Diplomatics (State Archives of Milano)
• PhD = Dottorato di Ricerca in Musical Philology (University of Pavia)
  Dissertation: The Lives and Complete Works of Renaissance Lutenists Lorenzino Tracetti and Vincenzo Pinti. Transcription from lute tablature into modern notation and edition of ca. 90 pieces from 25 manuscripts and 7 printed books. Biographical studies of both authors, including extensive archival research. 3 volls. 
  
• Masters = Laurea, with honors, in Musicology ( University of Bologna )
  Dissertation: Iconography of Lute-players in Italian Renaissance Art, with particular emphasis on the presumed portraits of Francesco da Milano (1497-1543). Advisor: prof. F.A.Gallo.
  
• Bachelors = Diploma Universitario, with homors, in Musical Paleography and Philology (University of Pavia)
  Dissertation: Iconography of musical instruments in art works located in several venues (museums, churches etc.) in the province of Vercelli , resulting in a catalogue of more than 100 works, mainly by Gaudenzio Ferrari (1471-1546) and his followers. 2 volls. Advisor: prof. Elena Ferrari Barassi.

SOFTWARE DESIGN

Co-authorship, with Paul Beier, of the design of the software MusIco, a database of musical iconography. MusIco has been adopted, among several independent scholars, by 16 Institutions* in 7 European Countries for the project Images of Music – A Cultural Heritage which was supported by a grant from Culture 2000 of the the European Community.

PRoject Participation

• 2002-2003: Images of Music (see above: Software Design). The project, directed by Tilman Seebass (University of Innsbruck), was sponsored by the European Union. My main activities within the project were:
  

• Administering the Italian database of Musical Iconography: Continuous contacts with all the Italian partners concerning questions regarding the use of MusIco and oversight of the partners’ work

• Teaching courses for catalogers with MusIco (see below: Teaching Experience)

• Updating MusIco Help

• Cataloguing for the University of Pavia and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia

• Compiling records for three virtual exhibitions

• 1998-2003: Norme di catalogazione dell’Iconografia Musicale e controparte informatica (rules for the cataloguing and digital archiving of musical iconography). Project directed by Elena Ferrari Barassi (University of Pavia). My specific role within the project was studying the existing systems of cataloguing musical iconography in order to design a computer program.

• 1992-1995: Catalogo Italiano di Iconografia Musicale (CIdIcM). The project, directed by Elena Ferrari Barassi (University of Pavia), was sponsored by the Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. My role within the project was compiling paper records of musical iconography according to the CIdIcM rules.

• 1985: RIdIM catalogue of musical iconography in Milanese museums. Project directed by Francesco Degrada (University of Milan). My role within the project was compiling paper records of musical iconography according to the RIdIM rules.

• From 1980 to 2007 I have taught in public school, junior high-school level, since 1986 in a tenured position. Varied multicultural environment, with an increasing presence of not-Italian speaking students. Main subjects of lessons: music appreciation, history of music, musical notation, choral practice, instrumental practice, elements of acoustics, etc.
